PROJECT: New York Museum of Modern Art: Items Is Fashion Modern?

ROLE: Exhibition Dressing Assistant. Responsible for handling, installing, and custom dressing a show of over 300 items and 100 mannequins.

CONCEPT: Declared “one of the year’s best art experiences” by the New York Times, Items: Is Fashion Modern? explores the present, past—and sometimes the future—of significant items of clothing and accessories that have had a strong impact on the world in the 20th and 21st centuries—and continue to hold currency today. Driven first and foremost by objects, not designers, the exhibition considers the many relationships between fashion and functionality, culture, aesthetics, politics, labor, identity, economy, and technology.

TIMELINE: Feb - Oct 2017

TEAM: Consulting/Lead Exhibition Dresser: Tae Smith. Dressing Assistants: Virginia Theerman, Whitney Hanscom, Christina Donnelly, Noelle Kichura
